Conditions are good today. Seaweed levels are low and the water is clear. No significant concerns.
The combination of a genuinely excellent beach and one of South Florida's best dining corridors on Atlantic Avenue makes Delray one of the region's most satisfying beach destinations for travelers who want more than just sand and sun.
Atlantic Avenue runs perpendicular from the beach west into downtown and is lined for over a mile with independent restaurants, bars, galleries, and boutiques. Boston's on the Beach is the classic beachfront institution. City Oyster does excellent seafood. Elwood's Dixie BBQ offers a change of pace. The Tin Roof has live music. Fat Tuesday's frozen drinks are a Delray beach ritual. The avenue is walkable and genuinely lively on weekend evenings: a rarity among South Florida beach towns that tend to be car-dependent and spread out.
