Best Time to Visit

November through March brings the dry harmattan season with calm seas and clear skies. The water is warmest and calmest during this period, making swimming comfortable. Avoid the heavy rains of May–June and September–October when beach access can be difficult.

What to Expect

A quiet, uncrowded beach with calm water perfect for swimming. Very limited facilities: bring supplies from Takoradi or nearby towns. The remoteness is the attraction: no beach sellers, no noise, just the Atlantic, palm trees, and solitude. Best combined with a night at Busua Beach (nearby) for contrast.

📜 Coastal History

Ghana's western coast was home to the Nzema and Ahanta peoples long before European contact in the 15th century. The Portuguese arrived at Cape Three Points in 1471: the southernmost point of West Africa: and established the first European trade networks on the Gold Coast. The coastline between Takoradi and the Ivorian border remains one of the least visited and most pristine in Ghana, largely because the Gold Coast's history is centered on the more developed central and eastern coasts.
